Using Sorber Sound Absorption Baffles as Acoustic Treatment – ClearSonic

Using Sorber Sound Absorption Baffles as Acoustic Treatment

Did you know? Sorber sound absorption baffles aren't just for improving sound for studios and live music production.

While they were originally designed for that purpose, Sorber panels will absorb excess noise and sound in virtually any environment in which you are experiencing noise issues, including conference rooms, classrooms, and commercial and industrial environments where noise can be distracting and/or harmful.

What do I need to lower noise in my space?

Luckily, ClearSonic Sorber panels diminish sound wave reflections to create a healthier, more pleasant atmosphere to spend time in. Sorber panels are well-suited to soak up sound frequencies with an overall NRC rating of 1 [read about NRC ratings here, and see our rating chart below].

In a given space, it only takes about 25% surface coverage to start noticing a difference in reverberation, so you can always start with the smallest impact and work up to adding more panels if you want to lower reverb even further.

How do I mount Sorber panels?

Mounting panels to walls can be done using drywall screws, construction adhesive, or adhesive Velcro, or they can be hung from ceilings using braided steel wire and hardware (mounting hardware not included). We also offer a larger free-standing version that can be used as a gobo to be placed where you need it - and it can even be turned into walls if more coverage is needed.

Got any feedback of how Sorber panels work in the real world?

So glad you asked! ECS Tuning, a local car part fabricator and retail warehouse here in NE Ohio, was having issues with noise caused by their testing facilities. ECS successfully used Sorber sound absorption baffles as acoustic treatment to improve the noise level and the response from their tech, Dustin, says it all:

'I have been working in the chassis dynamometer room for years and after trying multiple different ear protection methods I have not found a decent solution, so we turned to sound deadening. After discussing our needs with Evan from Clearsonic, he recommended the S2466 Sorber baffles placed at ear and exhaust height all around the room.

We ordered the baffles and had them in our hands within a few days. The difference they made was ASTONISHING. My first impression was that I had something wrong with my hearing as the change in reverberation was so drastic.

The noise from the wheels on the rollers was finally bearable, and I was able to spend much longer in the room without the need for a break to avoid headaches from the noise level. Not only did it improve the noise within the room, but the 'screaming banshee' sound from the dyno rollers no longer carried to other areas of the building - office workers were no longer aware that the dyno was in operation.

Bottom line is that the Sorber baffles are out of this world AMAZING!!! Thank you Clearsonic for saving my hearing!!!'

Thanks Dustin and ECS Tuning on behalf of ClearSonic for the opportunity to solve your noise problems! And we appreciate our guy, Evan, for always going above and beyond to help our customers.
